About
Charlotte Besuijen (Netherlands, based in Bergen, Norway) challenges what we consider to be valuable in art by using found and easily accessible materials. She is currently working on a series of sculptures called Floating Creatures. The works are composed out of found materials and left over pieces from earlier processes. While containing their own histories, these materials create new meanings when put together. They resemble whimsical shapes like clouds or strange beings, and invite viewers to tap into their own imagination. Considering imagination not as a way of escaping reality, but as a way to imagine-otherwise.
